Behind every successful person is a substantial amount of coffee and behind every successful café is a beautifully designed fit out!
Excelso Coffee, a roastery, soft-brew bar and barista training facility, had filled their two industrial alleyway sites in Tauranga’s 3rd Ave West to capacity. A mismatch of make-do furniture, exposed cabling and a “tradies” toilet left the space feeling dark, cluttered and unfinished.
The brief required a point of difference from other local cafes, with a natural materiality that still felt fresh and clean, whilst being complimentary to an upcoming rebrand. We gave them a custom designed, built-in, strandboard cabinetry unit with oodles of retail display space and a cleverly placed window allowing a sneak peek through to the roastery, two purpose built strandboard counters, one for serving espresso and one for barista demonstrations.
A lush, leafy green wall above an ‘L’ shaped banquette and a collection of small side tables and stools pull this space together and invites visitors to wait for their order in comfort and style, or sit and luxuriate over a cup of Tauranga’s best brew!
