Guess who’s been “on the tools” over the Christmas holidays?
Me! That’s right, I don’t just design on sketch paper and CAD, but also enjoy slapping around a paintbrush!
Studio 162 is a new venture from the Urban Dance Youth Trust providing two new dance studios at 162 Durham Street in Tauranga’s CBD. Being a Trust, there was very little budget with which to set up the new studios, (most being spent on mirrors and stunning sprung timber floors) so I grabbed a paintbrush to create a bright, funky graphic in the entry/waiting room to reflect Studio 162’s brand statement – “Movement is Life”.
The inter-connected triangles, paving their way around the walls and across the ceiling, represent the students of all shapes, sizes, cultures and backgrounds that come together at Studio 162. The colours were chosen based on the brand colours of the two dance schools in residence – Urban Dance and Motion Concepts – as well as the colours of the 4 x Hip Hop Crews that compete at an international level under Urban Dance.
Expressing your brand in your business premises doesn’t have to be a costly exercise, but can have a huge impact by creating a great first impression to both existing and new clients, and by making staff feel valued and inspired.
So I challenge you to explore what little changes could you make to your entrance/reception to improve that first impression of your business and brand!
